Dog Collars

The first thing you should purchase when you acquire a new dog is a dog collar. There are three reasons to have a dog collar. First, it gives you something to grab during training or if you need to stop a dog from advancing or retreating. Second, all dogs should have tags which will notify animal control of the dog’s owner and if the dog is updated on its shots in case the dog escapes. And third, dogs need to be taken out on the leash daily, and you can’t do that if the dog doesn’t have a collar!

When it comes to dog collars, you should keep a few things in mind. First, you should be able to slide two fingers between the collar and the thickest part of the dog’s neck. If you cannot do that, the collar is probably too tight and is restricting air. You must be vigilant about a situation like that, because dogs are incapable of alerting to you a problem. And no dog enjoys being strangled! Also, while some dog collars look pretty, they might not be the strongest or most durable. Dog collars are worthless if they are easily chewed away or torn off. Finally, have fun with your dog collars. They come in a lot of different colors and a lot of different styles. You can easily find one that fits your dog’s personality, or your own tastes. Most department stores with pet departments and pet stores have a wide variety for you to choose from at very affordable prices.
